How to prepare for an Interview

In today's competitive environment, knowledge is power and the most important weapon an interviewee can have. One of the objective of the interview process is to gauge how well the interviewee is aware of what is happening around him or is he a Frog in the well? Awareness essentially comes with reading, sharing thoughts, ideas and discussing opinions in forums. One  clear advantage of being well read is the ability to present actual facts and figures that would support any discussion on the subject. This reflects positively on the Interviewee, thus building confidence amongst the interviewers.

So far we have had a look at the interview process, an interview style and format. Let us have a look at how to prepare for interview. Interviews are a total to see whether you fit the job as well as the company. You need a mentally fit and alert to handle interviews.
·         read the organization's website, social media profiles and key literature (e.g. business plan, financial reports and corporate social responsibility strategy), ensuring that you're prepared to share your views and ideas.
·         Prepare a succinct, clear answer to each of the questions in the interview questions section. Practice answering questions with a friend, or in front of a mirror. Ask your friend to give you constructive criticism on your speaking style, mannerisms, and poise. As you practice, avoid colloquialisms, such as "like" and "you know." Make sure you don't script all your answers-you'll sound as though you're reading cue cards! It's important to prepare yourself for talking with complete strangers.
·         Be aware of different business models for the business of you are applying
·         Have a mock interview sessions. Analyses your performance and improve your week areas.

·         Video record your answer in the mock interview. Analyze your   body language, posture, gesture and facial expressions.
·         Do self- assessments so that you can convince the interviewer that your experience and academic qualifications will translate into value addition to the company.
·         Be mentally prepared for unexpected questions so that when you are asked unexpected questions it doesn't throw you off guard.
·         Be a Voracious reader. if you are applying for an investment banking job then you must be aware of the regulatory framework of the industry within your country and outside.
·         Do a research on the job profile and competency required for the position, You have applied for. Analyse your skill sets and highlight your strengths during the interview.
·         Your appearance should project the image required for the job profile. Be sure it fits in according to the work culture of the organization you have applied for.
